Complete 2D Action RPG (Zenva)

Key Learnings:

  • First time coding some Game Systems:

    • Inventory Systems,

    • Equippable Weapons,

    • Further Enemy AIs (incl. Ranged).

  • First time using some Unity features:

    • Input System,

    • Cinemachine & Pixel Perfect Camera.

This was a lengthier Zenva course that I found the time for over the holiday period! There was a lot of new stuff to digest here and the coding elements definitely went beyond anything that I have done up until this point.


Solutions:

Challenges:

  • This was the first Zenva course that I tried learning primarily from written assets and that worked quite well for me as I was able to get through the familiar parts with ease and take the time I needed to go over the newer content and concepts.

  • Inventory Systems (I found this pretty tough),

  • Managing assets & files on a much larger scale than previously needed.

Areas for Improvement:

  • The next steps for a game like this would be to build a menu with multiple levels and a scoring system!

Final Thoughts:

A great opportunity to brush up on prior learnings from previous projects and courses while also learning a tonne of new stuff.
